[0:00] The point that that I'm trying to make
[0:02] here is that scholars have analyzed the
[0:05] New Testament scriptures
[0:07] and there's 300 about 373 Old Testament
[0:11] quotes in the New Testament.
[0:13] Okay?
[0:14] Out of those 373,
[0:17] 340
[0:18] are from the Greek Septuagint.
[0:21] And how do they know? Because they can
[0:23] check
[0:24] the the sentence structure whether it's
[0:27] more Hebrew-like or it's more
[0:29] Greek-like. And Hebrew and and Greek are
[0:31] very different. So, when you construct a
[0:34] sentence and you're taking it from the
[0:35] Greek, it's going to
[0:37] be constructed differently than when it
[0:39] comes from Hebrew. All right? So, that's
[0:41] one of the the key things that they were
[0:42] able to to
[0:44] compare and say, "Okay, this is a quote
[0:46] from the Old Testament." They'll look at
[0:47] the Greek, they'll look at the Hebrew.
[0:49] Structure's like the Greek, it's
[0:51] probably from the Greek Septuagint.
[0:54] This is important because it
[0:55] demonstrates that Jesus and the New
[0:57] Testament writers regarded the Greek
[1:00] Septuagint as authoritative.
[1:03] Not a replacement for the Hebrew, but it
[1:05] was authoritative. They were able to
[1:07] quote from it. Recall that this version
[1:11] Recall that this version of the Old
[1:12] Testament had 46 books
[1:15] and included the seven books the
[1:17] Protestant Bible leaves out. I'm going
[1:19] to talk to you about why that's
[1:21] important because I get asked this
[1:22] question a lot, "Why are our Bibles
[1:24] different?" Right? And that's that's an
[1:26] important thing to to address. It's not
[1:29] meant to be divisive at all. This is not
[1:32] what this point of this is. It's
[1:34] understanding that if someone starts to
[1:36] read the scriptures and they they pick
[1:37] up a Catholic Bible, there's going to be
[1:39] seven more books in the Old Testament
[1:41] than in the Protestant Bible.
[1:42] The New Testament's exactly the same
[1:44] list.
[1:45] Okay? 27 books.
